Can AI predict the future? That’s one of the questions being asked by an AI art exhibition being held in Dublin by Holy Show magazine. Featuring artworks created from the AI software Midjourney by Irish filmmaker Hugh Mulhern, it showcases his ‘Hiberno-futurist’ style. Prompted to show images of what Ireland may look like in fifty years time, the pictures raise questions about the future of art, creativity and society itself.
The event featured a talk by acclaimed author Rob Doyle, who reflected on the role of AI in the creative arts, both now and in the coming future. I also caught up with visual artist Gearoid O Dea, who shared his perspective on AI and the history of ‘threats’ to art.
