Derry City and Strabane District Council have announced several disruptions to services and facilities due to the current snow and icy conditions.
The council have issued a number of statements for the public’s attention.
The Refuse collection services may be affected by todays inclement weather conditions. Householders are advised to leave out their bins as normal and Council staff will endeavour to service them when it is safe to do so
The Council’s Health and Community Committee meeting arranged for Thursday afternoon has been rescheduled until next week.
Several of the Cemeteries including the City Cemetery, Strabane, Ballyoan and Altnagelvin will be closed for a period in the morning to allow salting of the roads and pathways around these areas.
Recycling Centres, Council parks, greenways and play parks will remain open. However, such facilities especially in rural areas may experience some delays in opening when weather conditions are poor.
Leisure facilities and community centres will be open and operating as normal. Outdoor pitches will be inspected to see if they are suitable to open and users will be notified.
The public are asked to be patient and to co-operate fully with staff. Likewise, to exercise extreme caution when using any of the services and facilities during these weather conditions.
All updates on services and facilities affected can be found on the council’s social media platforms.
