Carl Frampton is “delighted to be supporting the launch of Good Relations Week 2024.”
Good Relations week is a multi-dimensional event that a multitude of education providers,
businesses and exhibitionists can get involved in.
Former professional boxer and two- weight world champion Carl Frampton showed his support for Good Relations week, stating the first and deputy first minister are doing ‘positive things.’
The boxer joined Michelle O’Neil and Emma Little Pengelly to encourage local groups and
organisations to get involved in Good Relations Week 2024.
He expressed the benefits of the event to the younger generation, saying: “We have a couple of
young people who are involved and working on projects in Springboard who shared their stories and it’s very powerful and emotional actually the things they were saying and how beneficial it’s been to them.”
Good Relations week is a multi-dimensional event that a multitude of education providers,
businesses and exhibitionists get involved in. Many people hold events to raise awareness and
combat against the inequalities that people can encounter in life.
Annually the Good Relations Week changes the theme. This year involves celebrating
‘OpportUNITY’ that is putting an emphasis on unity. It’s aiming to showcase the action,
enthusiasm, and commitment of local groups to foster positive community relations across the
region.

Frampton said: “This experience has only reinforced my belief in the importance of
celebrating the efforts of organisations and individuals that bring our communities closer
together and help address important issues like sectarianism, racism, inequality, health and
well-being, poverty, and education.”

The week is coordinated by the Community Relations Council, Martin McDonald (MBE) chair of the Community Relations Council, expressed the necessary need to work towards making a
difference in the future.

He said “This year’s theme emphasises the importance of cooperation and collaboration. It recognises the power of coming together, sharing our strengths, and working as one, to tackle the challenges that face us. It’s about creating spaces where dialogue flourishes, diversity is
celebrated, and every individual can contribute to our collective progress in building a society
where every voice matters.”
Jacqueline Irwin chief executive of the Community Relations Council said: “It will be a chance
for everyone to see and celebrate the impactful work carried out daily across the region, and it
will hopefully encourage wider participation and partnership in building a happier, safer society for all.”
The Good Relations Week will run from September 16 to September 22.
