Many of the roads across the Donegal are in a bad condition, with heavy snowfalls and icy conditions making driving conditions difficult.
The majority of schools across the county have announced they will remain closed today while school buses and public transport have cancelled their morning routes.
Roads in and around Letterkenny are in a treacherous condition, particularly near hills, with dozens of cars abandoned on the side of the road.
Other badly affected areas are Buncrana, Burt and Bridgend.
Met Eireann has issued a fresh Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning for the entire country, with lows of – 5 expected tonight.
The warning will come into effect from 5pm this evening until 11am tomorrow morning.
The forecaster has said difficult travelling conditions are expected, as well as low temperature issues for vulnerable people.
“Many of the roads around Donegal remain in a treacherous condition,” a spokesman for An Garda Siochana stressed.
“Please only travel if necessary until road conditions improve. Stay safe and check in on elderly/vulnerable neighbours, family members and friends. Alert Gardaí if you feel that somebody is in need of our assistance.”
Farmers are reminded to be aware of animal welfare issues, and to ensure drinking water and feed is available to livestock.
