An initiative which aims to showcase the best of Donegal products and services has been launched by the County Council.
Over the last few years, #BuyDonegal has showcased more than 300 businesses to a global audience of 13.9 million across more than 70 countries on social media.
The launch featured a range of engaging activities and informative talks. Speakers included successful small business coach Emma Boylan of Outside the Box, a company that advises business how to connect to their customers. Also speaking was Stephen Perry from the Donegal Local Enterprise Office who presented the range of resources available to local entrepreneurs.
The theme of the event was set by the Cathaoirleacht of Donegal County Council, Cllr Martin Harley. He explained how businesses can use ‘the collective strength of the #BuyDonegal brand’ to enable them to reach a wider customer base.
One of the highlights of the day was the panel discussion moderated by MC for the day Sally Murphy. The panelists included Seamus McDaid from McDaids makers of Football Special, fashion designer Orla O Hagan of Orla Vera Accessories and Emma Boylan. The panelists shared their experiences, challenges and successes with the entrepreneurs in attendance.
Highlighting the importance of the #BuyDonegal campaign to businesss in the County’ Garry Martin, the Councils Director of Economic Development said, “By embracing this campaign, we showcase the rich cultural heritage and vibrant entrepreneurial spirit that defines our community.”
The event also gave local businesses the opportunity to demonstrate the quality and variety of products they have to offer.
