A local cross-community archaeology society will be celebrating their 21st birthday this October with a special lecture.

New Buildings & District Archaeological and Historical Society will be marking the occasion at their AGM with a talk by George McLaughlin on the archaeological dig at Prehen House in 2013. Mr. McLaughin is a resident of Prehen and a long-time supporter of the Society.

The event has taken on an extra significance due to Prehen House being put up for sale.

Since forming in January 2002, New Buildings & District Archaeological and Historical Society have published books on local history. They have also carried out two archaeological digs in that period, and worked with schools.

Their aim is to promote and increase awareness of local history on a cross community basis, through talks, displays and other events.

New Buildings & District Archaeological and Historical Society will be holding their AGM on Wednesday October 4 at 7pm in New Buildings Cricket Club.
