At North West Regional College, Derry, students are preparing to direct a music video for local band, Villa in France, for BBC Introducing.
However, the future of these collaborations, which give student’s practical experience in the industry, now hangs in the balance.
The Department of Economy have laid out plans to cut funding to third-level institutions, including slashing places and ending Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA).
These draft plans have been condemned by educators and student leaders alike from across the third-level sector.
Tony Talbot, a lecturer at the college, said that proposed cuts would be detrimental to students and Northern Irish society.
He said: “Unless we’re training young people to the highest levels to achieve, that will ultimately damage the future prospects of the country.”
