Buncrana native, Miss Universe Ireland and nurse Grainne Gallanagh will be waltzing her way across our screens in the new year. Ms Gallanagh is delighted to announce she will be joining RTE one’s Dancing with the Stars show.
Grainne herself would say she is not a dance natural: “Unfortunately, I do not have any experience of dancing.”
She is more used to parading down the cat walk than on a dance floor.
The busy lady will be swopping her dull, but practical nurse’s uniform for the gleam and glitter of sequins and all things sparkly. The strict routine of the ward will be changed for the everchanging dance moves.
She has had to participate in some promotional photoshoots and has adds, “ We have had a taste of the glitz and glamour. I cannot wait to get stuck into the rehearsals and for the live shows to begin.”
Grainne will continue with her job as a nurse in London while juggling the commute to the studio in Dublin. No stranger to travel, she has been all round the world with the Miss Universe competition and has graced the cat walk in Miami Fashion Week in Florida recently. Grainne will joined on the dance floor with the among others, singer Sinead O’ Carroll from B*Witched, presenter Glenda Gilson, actor Ryan Andrews and well known RTE presenter Mary Kennedy and radio personality Lottie Ryan.
The dancing beauty may feel she lacks in talent but she certainly makes up for in energy and enthusiasm.
“I will do my absolute best while enjoying the experience overall.”
Dancing with Stars returns on Sunday January 5 at 6.30pm on RTE one.
