A bake sale hosted by North West Regional College’s gaming society has raised £53.
This is the second bake sale that Pixels Gaming Society have run this year. The funds go towards helping maintain the society. Everything sold, from the cupcakes to the Fifteens, was made by members.
Kasey Hayes, the president of the society said: “People have looked very hungrily at the food. Someone bought a whole cake, that was surprising.”
Pixels meets weekly on Wednesday in the student zone on the fourth floor of the Foyle Building of the college.
The society now has 36 members and serves as a welcoming social space for students from all walks of life.
All the money will go towards making sure that the society continues to be a meeting place for students of the college.
At the society members take part in board games, console games, even nights out bowling and trips to conventions.
Kasey said: “It’s a safe fun place. You can make friends with other people like you and just have a good time.”
Pixels can accomodate anyones preference. from the projector that can be used to host gaming tournaments, to the VR sets that students regurlarly bring in.
Students can find an interest that they had never thought of before, such as tabletop RPGs and card games.
Members are free to bring along their own consoles, card games, etc and the facilities for playing them will be provided.
